Responsive WordPress Themes, now, that has a nice ring to it doesn’t it? Ever since the wonderful and super talented Kelly Housholder mentioned to me Sara Cannon’s WordPress San Francisco talk on responsive web design, I haven’t been able to sleep. About two or three months ago, I was doing a little research while preparing for my interactive media class at the Art Institute of Tennessee which I teach, and thought I had discovered that some browsers, like IE7 which corporate America is still in bed with, would not render the code correctly. However after talking to several folks, watching Sara’s presentation, playing around on Smashing Magazine, A List Apart, purchasing Responsive Web Design by Ethan Marcotte, and playing around in the WordPress 2011 demo site, I decided to take the leap to try and develop our own WordPress responsive theme.
Over the next week to ten days, Joel and I will be discussing our process, what we have learned, the mistakes we have made and hopefully share the result, a beautiful responsive WordPress theme. As of right now, it will be appropriately named, the ninja responder.
Tune in, suggest a theme name, and share with your friends. This is fun!
